INSTALLING APE ADJUSTABLE
CAM SPROCKETS
READ THIS BEFORE REMOVING STOCK SPROCKETS
FROM CAMS
Take the APE sprocket
assembly and center the bolts in the adjustment slot and snug
the bolts so the sprockets will not move.
EXHAUST
Scribe a line on the end of the exhaust cam that lines up with
the line under the word "EX" on the stock sprocket.
Remove the stock sprocket. Hold the APE sprocket and adapter
up to the cam so that the line you scribed on the cam lines up
with the two dots on the APE sprocket. Scribe a line on
the end of the adapter to line up with the line on the end of
the cam . Remove the APE sprocket and install the adapter so
that the mark you just made lines up with the line on the cam.
Support the cam securely. Use red Locktite in the adapter and
press it on until the end of the adapter is flush with the end
of the cam. DO NOT PRESS ON FURTHER.
INTAKE
Scribe a line on the end of the intake cam that lines up with
the line under the word "IN" on the stock sprocket.
Remove the stock sprocket. Hold the APE sprocket and adapter
up to the cam so that the line you scribed on the cam lines up
with the one dot on the APE sprocket. Scribe a line on
the end of the adapter to line up with the line on the end of
the cam . Remove the APE sprocket and install the adapter so
that the mark you just made lines up with the line on the cam.
Support the can securely. Use red Locktite in the adapter and
press it on until the end of the adapter is flush with the end
of the cam. DO NOT PRESS ON FURTHER.
BE CAREFUL when removing
stock sprockets and installing adapters. Support the cam securely
or damage can result. Be sure that bolt heads etc. clear the
head casting and cam cover. Cam bolt torque 17-19 ft. lbs. Do
not overtighten. |
